Hello, my name is Calista Gallant. I am Tlingit from Juneau, Alaska and grew up in Sitka, Alaska. I never had a stable living situation growing up but I wouldn't let that stop me. I have been around technology my whole life and have seen it develop over the years from cellphones to video games and the internet. My resources for technology were limited because we were poor, but any chance that I got to play video games or access online, came very naturally to me with my quick-thinking abilities and problem solving skills. The hardship I endured did not set me back growing into the adult that I am today, it has given me strength and resilience against any obstacles that I may face and I would like to be that model for kids that may have a similar background as me. Being a part of the LGBTQIA+ community and Alaskan Native, I have defied all stereotypes that have been put before my heritage and sexuality. I have faced the trials and tribulations of Marine Corps boot camp along with training prior to ship date. I was medically released and not able to continue participating in active training. I took coding classes in high school and enjoyed being around computers, but I never took the step forward to continue and learn more. As time has passed, technology has become a very big necessity in society and I have grown interested as a young professional to pursue a career in software development and cyber security. Going forward I would like to evolve my community with the skill set and knowledge that I have learned through Codefy.
