Hello, my name is Allen Cook. I am Tlingit, born and raised in Juneau, Alaska. I've had a lifelong fascination with electronics and computers, disassembling and reassembling and tinkering with them. I'm a quick learner with a natural curiosity and a tenacious problem-solving mindset. I'm very passionate about programming; it's always exciting to learn new things and turn ideas into reality.

My best projects have also been my greatest learning experiences; some highlights include:

A chess program supporting many variants, fairy-pieces, and arbitrary board shapes and sizes, and a chess engine to go along with it.

A custom array language designed to easily pass command-line arguments into C++ programs - taught me a lot about compilers and parsers.

A fluid simulation - which reminded me of the importance of math (and shaders).

 

My journey learning and exploring programming has been inspired and enabled by many great open-source projects.I hope that one day, I can give back as much as I have received. One step towards building a better tomorrow.
